Michael Carrick, along with a team of volunteers, will be running the Manchester 10k on Sunday 19th May 2019 to raise awareness and funds for the Michael Carrick Foundation.
The money raised from taking part will go towards two of the Foundation’s projects based in Manchester; Carrick’s Street Reds, in partnership with the Manchester United Foundation, and Girls Without Boundaries, in partnership with the Lancashire Cricket Foundation.
With the former focusing on football and the latter on dance and self-defence, both projects give much needed opportunities for children in deprived areas to engage in safe, free and exciting activities, to meet and mix with new friends and to learn important social skills to prepare them for later life.
The 10k starts in the centre of Manchester, with the runners heading out towards Manchester United’s Old Trafford football ground and crossing the finishing line on Great Bridgewater Street. Last year over 30,000 runners and thousands of spectators took to the streets of Manchester to support the highly anticipated event.
Michael is very much looking forward to the event and told us, ‘It’s the first year we’ve entered a team to the Manchester 10k and we’re really excited about it. There will be 25 of us running to raise money for the Foundation, including me and my wife Lisa. It’s really important to us to get involved and support all of our fantastic fundraisers’.
You can find the Team Carrick supporters on one of the eight cheer bus points sited for charities, to make for a vibrant atmosphere and a day to not be missed.
