To mark Michael Carrick Foundation’s fifth anniversary, more than 400 people came together at the iconic Victoria Warehouse in Manchester for a celebratory fundraising event.
The event was organised to raise funds for future projects, and to give guests present an understanding of the Foundation’s history and how it came to be.
Following Michael Carrick’s testimonial in 2017, Michael created his Foundation and began his mission to create empowering opportunities where disadvantaged young people could feel safe, valued, and inspired to achieve their full potential.
As well as special performances from Scouting for Girls and DJ Majestic, the evening featured a live auction with prizes ranging from training experiences with Middlesbrough FC and Manchester United, coffee with Lioness, Jill Scott to dining experiences with renowned chef, Aldo Zilli and school visits from the Premier League Trophy. Guests were also treated to a delicious three-course dinner cooked up by Manchester’s very own Firefly Restaurant.
The fundraising efforts will go a long way to supporting programme delivery, community campaigns, and volunteering and training opportunities for hundreds of young people across Greater Manchester and the North East.
During the event, the room also heard from participant turned volunteer coach, Scott Lee, who spoke about the positive impact and life changing experiences he has had through Michael Carrick Foundation. Michael Carrick then took to the stage to express his thanks and remind everyone of the Foundation’s purpose and the importance of providing chances and opportunities for those who need it most.
Michael Carrick, Michael Carrick Foundation Founder, said, “The support we’ve received over the last five years has been incredible, and tonight has been no different. To see so many familiar faces - and plenty of new ones - is testament to the power of sport.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has part of our journey so far. I’m looking forward to what the next five years have in store.”
All proceeds from the event will support the Foundation’s programme delivery and community campaigns across Greater Manchester and the North East and help reach more youngsters than ever before.
