Thursday 10th October marked a rather monumental day in the Michael Carrick Foundation history book, as the Foundation held its first ever Golf Day, raising more than £20,000 to support disadvantaged youngsters living in Greater Manchester and Tyne and Wear.
Set in the picturesque grounds of Prestbury Golf Club, 18 eager teams arrived on the day ready to take on the course, but not before obligatory bacon and egg rolls and a quick caffeine fix.
Despite the typical temperamental October weather conditions, the golfers all played a great round and admired the fantastic course Prestbury has to offer.
As daylight began to disappear, players were welcomed back to the Clubhouse by Michael (who himself had only just returned from playing), and his wife Lisa, who played a key role in the organisation of the event.
As scorecards were totalled, the clubhouse was filled with an extremely noticeable buzz of live music and team chatter as everyone reflected on their game and admired their team photographs.
As guests anticipated their fate, Michael thanked everyone in attendance and spoke about the importance of creating safe spaces and empowering opportunities where youngsters can achieve their full potential.
Shortly after, the results were revealed, with Optima Cars securing first place, being crowned the first ever winners at a Michael Carrick Foundation Golf Day.
The day was a huge success and the Foundation was overwhelmed and humbled by the generosity and support of so many businesses and individuals.
Michael Carrick Foundation is proud to announce that the golf day will return in September 2020 and planning is underway already!
